This study aims to determine the importance of raising health
awareness among individuals regarding the proper use of
medications to improve their health. This is achieved by developing
their knowledge, changing their attitudes, habits, and behaviors
related to medication use, and understanding the role of healthcare
professionals in health awareness and education.
The study employed a descriptive-analytical approach. Data was
collected through a questionnaire distributed to a random sample of
213 respondents, which was then subjected to statistical analysis. The
results showed that health literacy plays a significant role in
rationalizing medication use, influenced by educational and living
standards. However, the study also revealed a weakness in the role
of physicians and pharmacists in the education process. Furthermore,
consumers often purchase and take medications without consulting a
doctor, relying instead on their own past experiences with
medication. The study also highlighted the absence of a
comprehensive media campaign for health education.
